Staff Sergeant Joshua R. Hager, 29, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, with the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Ft. Carson, Colorado, was killed in action on February 23, 2007.  SSG Hager enlisted in the Army in 1998 and received numerous awards of merit and valor. Upon completing boot camp, SSG Hager was awarded the "Iron Mike," also known as the Audie Murphy award. SSG Hager completed jump school and joined the 82nd Airborne. He was "fast-tracked" for promotion and served with distinction in Korea. Returning to the states, he completed Army Ranger training and eventually served two and one half years as a Ranger Instructor at the 6th RTB, Eglin AFB, FL. SSG Hager transferred to Ft. Carson in order to join an infantry unit scheduled for duty in Iraq. He has been awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. As SSG Hager would say, and as all Rangers would say, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, "Here I am. Send me!" Rangers Lead The Way.
